HDFC Bank’s Aditya Puri only Indian on Fortune’s Businessperson of the Year top 20 list              



Aditya Puri, the Managing Director of HDFC Bank, is the only Indian on Fortune’s ‘Businessperson of the Year’ list.  
                                                                 

At the 18th position, Aditya Puri is the only head of an Indian company on the list.

Nvidia’s Jensen Huang, a Taiwan-born American entrepreneur and businessman, has topped the list.

First Sikh woman elected as mayor in the U.S.



 Preet Didbal has been elected as the mayor of Yuba city in California, becoming the first Sikh woman to hold the position in the United States.

Ms. Didbal was appointed by the California city council and will be sworn in on December 5, KCRA-TV, an NBC-affiliated television station

South Korea, US launches largest Air Exercise


South Korea and the United States launched their largest-ever joint aerial drills. 
The annual US-South Korean drill, called Vigilant Ace, will run for 5-days, with six F-22 Raptor stealth fighters to be deployed among the more than 230 aircraft taking part.
The military exercises that began Monday involve 12,000 personnel and also include six F-22 Raptors, representing the largest deployment of the stealth fighters to South Korea.

Venezuela to launch new virtual currency

The President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro has announced the creation of a new virtual currency in a bid to ease the country’s economic crisis.
 The economy of the country has been impacted heavily by the falling oil revenue and plummeting value of its existing currency, the bolivar. 
According to the President, the new crypto-currency- Petro – would allow the country to advance in issues of monetary sovereignty, to make financial transactions and overcome the financial blockade. Venezuela’s economic crisis is mainly triggered by a fall in crude oil prices and a drop in oil production, Petroleum is its main source of hard currency.

Deepika bags bronze for India in Indoor Archery World Cup

India returned with a solitary bronze medal by Deepika Kumari at the Indoor Archery World Cup Stage 2 that concluded  in Thailand . Deepika, seeded third, defeated 13th seeded Sayana Tsyrempilova of Russia 7-3 in the women’s recurve bronze play-off.

First International exhibition and Conference on AYUSH and Wellness Sector Begun in New Delhi



The first International Exhibition and Conference on AYUSH and Wellness sector- AROGYA 2017 has begun in New Delhi. The four-day event was inaugurated by Ayush Minister Shripad Yesso Naik. The theme of the conference is ‘Enhancing the global potential of Ayush’.

 The main objective of the event is to showcase the strength and scientific validation of Indian System of Medicine in the global context. The fair will give a boost to AYUSH Products in International Market.



Prithvi Shaw named captain for Under-19 World Cup



Young Mumbai sensation Prithvi Shaw has been named captain of the 15-member Indian squad for the 2018 Under-19 World Cup to be held in New Zealand from January 13.
